The University of Baghdad, represented by its rector, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, hosted the ministerial committee of the Prime Minister’s Office to evaluate the scholarship policies, in the presence of a number of representatives of all ministries and Iraqi universities. The meeting included the statement of the objectives of the project proposed by the His Excellency the Prime Minister to focus on the energies of the student scholarships within university committees aimed at developing their work and promoting them at the local and international levels and providing advisory services to university leaders and professors as well as creating regional and international academic networks and contributing to the strengthening of university positions in the international academic rankings and supporting the independence of universities, in addition to developing the capabilities and skills of faculty members and developing methods of teaching.

The committee also outlined a work map to implement the recommendations of evaluating the scholarship policies through the formation of a special team to study the experiences of visiting lecturers abroad so as to unify the policies of scholarship between the coordination of the ministry of higher education and other government institutions, development of a website for the scholarship graduates and the statement of the application mechanism. The committee proposed to disseminate this experience to other ministries and state institutions, designing a database of scholarships according to various scientific disciplines and selecting the competent as consultants.
