The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science has organized a virtual workshop on “Drug Addiction and Its Psychological and Social Effects” with the participation of a number of students, faculty members and those concerned with the educational & health affairs.

The workshop aimed to introduce the symptoms of drug addiction and its causes and damages by the dangers of drug addiction and its causes and psychological, religious, social, legal and health aspects and the most important methods of prevention as one of the strongest scourges of modern times besides poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and epidemics and are the most prominent obstacles to development and the worst use of natural resources, it destroys the human body, mind and idea of addiction and makes it an unproductive human being. The lectures were delivered by Dr. Faten Abdul Ali al-Bayati, Assist. Lecturer Ghusoon Ghazi Mohammed, Assist. Lecturer Nahla Abdul Rahman and the Assist. Lecturer Shaimaa Dhia alddin, who dealt with the causes of drug addiction, the effects of its use, pointing out that among these reasons is the weakness of religious sentiment or faith, and the misconception that drugs remove anxiety, boredom and depression, pointing out that one of its causes is also family neglect, the love of reconnaissance and curiosity for studying its negative effects and the destruction it causes to the lives of the individual and community, as well as to identify ways to prevent and avoid them.
