The Occupational Safety Unit of the Directorate of Dormitories at the University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Military Industrialization Board (MIB) held a symposium entitled “Occupational Safety and Fire treatment methods” that was delivered by the Chief Engineer Raheem Maghtadh Abbas, the representative of the Military Industrialization Board and the Prof. Saad Mahmoud Alwan, the assistant director of Fire Fighting Systems Labs. This event was attended by a large number of employees from the student housing complexes at all university formations.
The lecture dealt with the causes of fires, their types and ways of preventing and fighting them. For his part, the director of dormitories, Prof. Dr. Omar Faleh Hassan, also asserted during his speech the need to benefit from this field experience to develop the capabilities of the staff and learn the advanced methods for controlling fires and stressing at the same time preventing any matters that might cause fires and importance of continuous follow-up of facilities used in this regard.
