The Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biologic Techniques for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad held a scientific online symposium entitled (The Basics of Translation of Biological Evidence in Forensic Cases) presented by the lecturer Dr. Da’ad Ali Hussein via the FCC platform in the presence of a number of researchers and specialists in this field. The aim of the symposium was to clarify the importance of the biological evidence in resolving criminal cases, which may be the only physical evidence to be adopted in moral cases such as rape.

The participants recommended the development of a culture in the society about how to taking the correct scientific steps in the case of suspected crime or assault by reporting such individual behaviors. Also they stressed the importance of activating a database of fingerprints and leather lines, at least for convicts who have a previous criminal record and even those arrested, as well as such events involving assaults and activating the use of the next generation sequencing application technology in the analysis and resolution of forensic cases. At last, the lecturer stressed the importance of establishing forensic centers and sub-units in all provinces that should be centrally connected with the Department of Forensic Medicine in Baghdad.
