The students of the department of public relations at the college of media have organized a field awareness campaign on “drug risks” under the slogan “Hand in Hand to Eliminate Drugs” and with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Fatima Abdul Kadhim. This event aimed to enhance community security towards many negative phenomena that stand in the way of the development and well-being of our community.
The participants highlighted the negative consequences of taking drugs on society, particularly young people, who are the pillars of the future and the key element in the process of development and leadership in any nation, so there is a very vital and national necessity for protecting and educating them to prevent such a dangerous scourge. The campaign reviewed the effects of drug abuse and trafficking on the addicted, their families and people in alignment with the instructions of the ministry of higher education and scientific research as well as the recommendations of the presidency of the University of Baghdad that has emphasized the importance of forming educational campaigns targeting young people in general and the university’s students and pupils in particular to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs and their severe repercussions that requires cooperation of all sectors in taking this social responsibility.
