The Laser Institute for Postgraduate Studies at the University of Baghdad has organized a workshop entitled “Reducing violent extremism leading to terrorism” with the aim to counter the violent extremism created by the current world conditions characterized with escalating waves of violence and international terrorism, which threatens the security and life of human beings in developed and developing countries alike.
The workshop was administrated by the head of the Continuing Education Unit at the institute, Assist. Lecturer Lamia Qand Khalaf, including two lectures, the first of which was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Adnan Kazim, the head of the Political Systems Branch at the College of Political Science, who addressed how to rebuilding strategies to counter violent extremism leading to terrorism. The second lecturer was given by Assist. Prof. Dr. Ammar Hameed Yassin, the head of the International Studies Branch at the College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad, dealt with formulating strategic alternatives in the fight against violent extremism.
