The College of Pharmacy at the University of Baghdad has organized an electronic workshop entitled “Freeze drying in pharmaceutics: principle and application”, delivered by the lecturer Zainab Issa Jassim, a faculty member at the Pharmaceutics Branch. This workshop dealt with several topics including the date of the discovery of drying process as well as its uses previously and currently and the principle of operating this device theoretically and the stages required to get a dry product, and the factors that affect the work and efficiency of this device. The lecturer then addressed the uses of this technique in manufacturing vaccines and antibiotics, the maintenance of enzymes and bacteria in addition to discussing their increased stability. At the end of the workshop, she shed light on the benefits and harms of this device in general.
