The Department of Qur’an sciences at the College of Education for Humanities (Ibn Rushd) held an electronic workshop entitled “Social networking sites and their role in spreading scientific knowledge” delivered by the assistant dean for scientific, graduate and teaching affairs, Prof. Dr. Huda Abbas Qanbar. The workshop aimed to show the role of social media sites in spreading knowledge and knowing its benefits and disadvantages.

 The workshop included an overview of social media sites and their types, the introduction of scientific knowledge and its types and ways of transferring knowledge through the service of networking sites, as well as the presentation of the study procedures and analysis of the data of the questionnaire. The workshop recommended urging the teaching to invest social media sites to share knowledge, experiences and cultures with various teachers with specialization, whether from within inside the country or abroad, and the interest of universities, colleges and scientific departments to establish accounts for them through social media sites to publicize their scientific activities and open channels of communication with teachers and students, as well as the need to establish academic communication sites aimed at spreading and sharing scientific knowledge and making them available to all, such as some sites concerned with the dissemination of information sources and educational programs so as to train various members of the community.
