Assist. Prof. Dr. Wassan Hussein Mohimeed, the head of the department of manuscripts at the Center for Revival of Arab Scientific Heritage has delivered a lecture entitled “Sheikh Uday bin Musafir al-Hakkari (557 Ah/1161 AD) and his impact on the Yazidi religion: a historical study” at an event sponsored by St George’s Catholic Church in Baghdad. She at first dealt with the biography of Sheikh Uday bin Musafir as one of the most prominent Sufi sheikhs in Iraq, starting with his name and his lineage to the Umayyad dynasty, his nickname and titles, the environment in which he was born and raised, and his scientific and practical biography and his elders who were adhered to Sufism.
The researcher also referred to his mysticism and his way in which he carried his name the enemy way, and took a corner in Mount Hakar Bilalish to worship, which had great impact on his personality and behavior and that as a result has effects on his social environment and in the hearts of his lovers, usually referring to as students or followers, where they believed that he had made miracles, such as healing diseases, preaching, praying and communicating with sheikhs, so he has a great influence on the Yazidi religion.
