The events committee of the department of petroleum engineering at the college of engineering has organized an awareness symposium on drug abuse for third-grade students in commitment to the instructions of the ministry of higher education and scientific research regarding this topic.
The head of department, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hassan Abdul Hadi, stressed during his speech the need to raise awareness among students and also participated in the presentation a group of students who talked about various topics related to drugs and smoking, including a brief overview of the history of the use of this scourge and how to be addicted, as well as its effects on health, psychological, behavioral and economic consequences. The participants also presented a series of realistic stories about addicts and how their situation and life have changed to the worse, as well as stories of some addicts who have been able to save themselves by enrolling in drug treatment centers. At the end of the symposium, the head of department awarded the participants with certificates of thanks and appreciation.
