The General Secretariat of the Central Library at the University of Baghdad hosted a symposium sponsored by the Iraqi Association of Information Specialists, Libraries and Documentation entitled “Annual inventory at Iraqi university libraries: proposed problems and solutions”, in coordination with the Regional Committee for the Middle East and North Africa, with the participation of a number of trustees working in central libraries in various Iraqi universities.

The symposium included the discussion of a number of researches, including the inventory mechanism used in libraries and information centers, the problem between fixed materials (stores) and non-static materials (library contents) (library problems related to the department of financial stores and the legal department), the problem of free-education missing items, loan instructions and permissible rates of loss and the write-off mechanism of damaged books, as well as the powers of the library director in collecting fees and delayed fines and the possibility of development and modification. This online event was broadcasted via Zoom platform for the benefit of librarians who were unable to attend and to exchange opinions and discussing the proposed solutions and recommendations.
