The Department of Sociology at the College of Education for Women held an online training course entitled “Social worker roles in support of victims of domestic violence” via Google Meet service. The aim of the course was to show what violence is as it is one of the patterns of aggressive behavior that results from unequal power relations within the system of division of labor between women and men within the family, which results in determining the roles and status of each family member, as dictated by the socio-economic system prevailing in society.

During the session, the dimensions of violence, such as act, content, intent, outcome, as well as the causes of its emergence were determined and the outcome or effects of violence on violence or violence were determined. Forms of violence (physical, economic, psychosocial and sexual) have also been defined and the roles of social workers in reducing domestic violence have been defined if the social worker can intervene professionally to reach the elimination of these elements by following the scientific methods of (providing practical assistance in conflict resolution , information, advice & guidance, clarification, conversion, emotional support, negotiation, mediation and agreement) along with setting limits that must reflect the preferences of society and not individual privacy and empowerment whereby the specialist plays a possible role when the therapeutic intervention activities are directed towards helping the client discover the response capabilities required to bring about the change necessary to achieve the desired goals and to stay away from violence so as to solve the client’s problem and to deal with family disputes.
