The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Women held an electronic training workshop in accordance with the cottage methodology entitled (Domestic violence: reality and problems) via the Google Meet platform.

The lecture was delivered by the head of department Assist. Prof. Dr. Athmar Shaker Majid al-Shatri, in which she addressed the topics of human rights and domestic violence as an international and local legislative base, as well as the impact of the Corona pandemic on the increase in the rates of domestic violence in the whole world and in Iraq in particular, and the social, psychological and economic reasons that lead to its aggravation, especially violence against women, including the absence of legislation on the protection of domestic violence, as well as the lack of awareness of the means of reporting and fear of customs and traditions that prevent this phenomenon. The workshop concluded with some recommendations urging the Iraqi parliament to legislate the law and urging the media to adopt specialized programs to solve the problems of society, in addition to raising public awareness of the means of reporting cases of domestic violence and developing the ability to solve problems and manage crises within the Iraqi family, especially in times of crises.
