Two professors from the college of education for women at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Alaa Mohammed Rahim and Prof. Dr. Asawer Abdul Hussein have participated in the second international specialized conference on autism spectrum disorder sponsored by the Technical Medical Institute of the Technical University at the Palestine Meridien Hotel in Baghdad. They presented a joint research paper entitled “Autism and family cohesion between support and neglect” in which they tried to identify the concept of autism and its most important causes and effects on the child, family and society, as well as the extent to which children can recover from autism behaviors as the study seeks to know the dimensions of autism on family cohesion in both positive and negative aspects, and to diagnose the most important difficulties and obstacles facing the families of autistic children and educators and specialists in the field of training and rehabilitation by identifying the most important ways and programs that ensure their protection and families and reintegration into society.
One of the most important findings of the researchers through participation in (Autism Mothers’ Unions) is that all families seek to get their children out of the problem of autism at all costs and try to improve the level of their children by using the experiences of other mothers within forums and that autism cases vary from child to child and that some mothers succeeded in modifying the behaviors of their children and integrating it into society, relapse of autistic children increases the pressures of psychological and social mothers and the majority of mothers have problems with their husbands and others Separation was caused by the presence of this child and there is an urgent need in these families for the support and support of all, on the other hand there is weakness and lack of awareness by the community, relatives and friends of the suffering they confront.
