The Department of Empowerment and Capacity Building Research at the center for women’s studies at the University of Baghdad, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Iraq, has organized a training workshop on (Policy and project analysis from the gender perspective).
The aim of the training workshop is to raise awareness of the importance of integrating gender into policies and programs in order to achieve equality and to ensure an integrated, fair and sustainable development process and to enable participants to adopt tools and methods of gender analysis and the use of digital and quality indicators to analyze the reality of gender integration in their institutions. The workshop also outlined the importance of developing a framework or a plan that could guide the work of women’s empowerment departments in Iraqi ministries and to integrate the interests of women and men during the life cycle of the project. It is noteworthy that gender analysis is an important entry point for gender integration, and the first step in building any strategy, policy or program based on the analysis of differences and inequalities that highlights the link between inequality and the development of challenges to be addressed and to illustrate the potential implications as well as encouraging the selection of alternative paths.
