The department of chemistry at the college of education for pure and applied sciences (Ibn al-Haitham) has organized an online training course via the Google Classroom service entitled (The impact of Covid-19 on environment and some health practices under the pandemic) that lasted for two days in the participation of a number of lecturers at the department. The aim of the course was to learn what happened in the world in the shadow of the spread of this epidemic and how to cope with the changes that have taken place across the world in this regard.
The course also dealt with the most important positive effects of Coronavirus, despite the damage it caused to the whole world, but its impact was positive and indirect on the natural environment, as the interruption of life in most major cities in the world led to the suspension of transportation and the reduction of industrial activities significantly, which led to a decrease in environmental pollutants and that allowed the renewal of nature, so we found this clear through the improved air quality and the decrease in the proportions of pollutants in the atmosphere, which was characterized with carbon minutes and dust in some of the most polluted cities in the world. The discussion concluded with a number of recommendations, including how to cooperate to protect the environment from pollution, such as reducing the use of various means of transportation, as well as reducing the work of factories producing carbon dioxide, which raises global temperatures, increasing green spaces, which are among the necessary strategies applied to protect the environment, improve climate, reduce the amount of carbon dioxide, as well as use renewable energy, treat contaminated water, recycle waste and use healthy behaviors in our daily lives.
