The department of home economics at the college of education for women held a scientific symposium entitled “Blood types and their relationship to diseases” via Zoom platform that was delivered by Prof. Fatima Faiq Jumaa and the lecturer Sura Obeid Neima. The symposium aimed to identify blood types, characteristics and their compatibility when blood transfusion to avoid the risk of infection of many diseases, including Covid-19 as well as to assist people protecting themselves from diseases and to know the Rhesus factor (Rh). The lecturers recommended the need for knowing the blood type to avoid the risk of diseases or complications by determining the type of food consumed by blood type, and in case there is incompatibility between the parents’ blood, the globulin injection should be given to the child at the first three days of birth so as to avoid deformities.
