The department of electrical engineering at the University of Baghdad organized an online workshop on how to prepare and present a self-assessment report that was delivered by the Assist. Prof. Dr. Dhia Jassim Kazim who gave detailed information about such report that present and analyze the department or the college’s mission, functions and activities.
He added that such reports present a brief but comprehensive statement of the department’s objectives and strategic objectives and discusses how it is aligned with the university’s objectives. In addition, it provides a comprehensive analysis of the department’s activities, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges, where it diagnoses weaknesses and shortcomings in procedural, regulatory and other issues that are under the control of the Department and can be addressed internally. The report also describes the collective self-assessment of professors and students for their roles not only in the department but also at the university and the ministry. It thus identifies resource shortages and provides reasonable proposals for increased resources. Finally, this report (in conjunction with the experts’ review report) facilitates the numbers of the department’s action plan for continuous improvement of the quality of engineering education.
