According to the last version of the QS Arab University Rankings 2022 issued recently, the University of Baghdad got the first place locally where it was ranked in the (26) place among the top universities at Arab world out of (180) Arab universities spread over (15) countries, in conjunction with the entry of 24 new universities this year.

It is noteworthy that 22 Iraqi universities have entered in this ranking whose academic performance was measured based on ten indicators as follows : Academic Reputation from Global Survey 30%, Employer Reputation from Global Survey 20%, Faculty Student Ratio 15%, International Research Network Index 10%, Web Impact from Webometrics 5%, Proportion of Staff with PhD 5%, Citations per Paper from Scopus 5%, Papers per Faculty from Scopus 5%, Proportion of International Students 2.5%, Proportion of International Faculty 2.5%.
