The psychological and educational guidance unit at the college of education for women held an electronic workshop via Google Meet service on the topic of providing psychosocial social support for women in the participation of a number of students and professors at the college. The lecturers explained the concept of psychosocial support as a common term in society, which represents an intended behavior to help individuals improve their mental and social health by promoting better communication between them and through building a better sense of the self and the community.
They also stated that these goals can be reached caring and respecting relationships with each other that may assist in conveying messages of understanding and tolerance, so the psychosocial support is reflected in any emotional and physical assistance that an individual receives from others surrounding him, such as family, friends, neighbors or co-workers and the extent to which the individual is able to accept and recognize such assistance.
The professors said that there are four forms of psychosocial support: (appreciation, providing information, social health, procedural support or material assistance when needed to solve daily problems). Also they stressed that the individuals who have a good sense of self- esteem and social relationships with others are better from the psychological point of view than those who lack such relationships, however there are some conditions that must be met in the process of psychosocial support in order to be effective, the most important of which is the amount of support, choosing the right time to provide support, the source of support, intensity of support, as well as the type of psychosocial support.
