The department of English language at the college of education for humanities (Ibn Rushd) held an online workshop entitled “Academic communication skills in virtual classes” delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Elaf Riadh. The workshop aimed to highlight some communication skills that can be learned when exchange knowledge in virtual learning under the Coronavirus pandemic for it is one of four essential requirements of social and academic skills of the 21st century.
The lecturer at first addressed quality indicators of teaching within the virtual classroom as an online learning environment that allows for live interaction between the tutor and the learners, then she recommended the need to prepare students on how to use and interact with others in such stimulating and constructive educational environment as well as how to follow-up their interaction periodically by the faculty and encouraging students towards overcoming fear and shyness when speaking English to identify their own identities and to continue their courses properly.
