The department of mathematics, in collaboration with Ibn Sina unit for e-learning and the continuing education unit at the college of science has organized a virtual course entitled “How to use Mathpix” delivered by the lecturers Shirin Rasul Jawad, Dina Sultan Ibrahim and the Assist. lecturer Allaa Walid Saleh in the presence of a number of students and researchers in the fields of computer and mathematics.
The course aimed to learn how to use the Mathpix snip tool used for text extraction, particularly mathematical equations, from images and documents, so then a text in Word/LaTeX can be pasted into a document editing tool such as a LaTeX or Markdown editor for the sake of saving time in typing data from tables, as well as for note-taking. It is noteworthy that such applications are very useful in solving linear mathematical equations, roots, fractions, logarithms, trigonometry, calculus and derivatives.
