Scout Camp of University of Baghdad
The university paid keen interest in the classroom and non-classroom activities and how these activities play an active role in scientific promotion to excel all its counterparts from prestigious universities and what the university has done recently represents a new movement in these important academic activities which the prestigious universities often pay great attention .The University of Baghdad recently constructed scout camp that holds international standards and originally from U.S.A and within the finest and smallest details used in the developed countries .A group of professors supervised this comp from the College of Physical Education, headed by the Dean Prof. Dr. Riadh Khalil and follow-up of Prof. Ali Yusuf ,Dr. Mohammad Kadhim, Director of sport activity in the presidency of the university, and direct support from the university presidency. The camp is built in the building of the college of Physical Education on a very beautiful ground full of palm trees, farms and a large area to let a scout enjoy inspiration of constructive ideas to present virtue to the community. Once the scout camp has been done, the university initiated to hold a scout camp for two consecutive days and with the participation of all university colleges, institutes and centers, in which all international standards of Scout are applied. As it is known that the Iraqi Scouts and by virtue of its long experience is distinctive and superior without a challenged in the Arab region and the Middle East, and by virtue of its committement of instructions and international regulations of the Scouts activity, so it is a leader of the Scout Movement in the Arab world, and one of the founders of the Scout Movement and Arab Organization of Scouts.
The scouts course was held to prepare leaders of Scout and globe -trotters of the colleges of Baghdad University sponsored by Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hussein, president of the University of Baghdad, with the active and strong participation and large rivalries. It included lectures of the participants, competitions and the traditions of the Scout Movement and scout games. The flag raising ceremony has been done and within scout controls and standards and supervised directly by professors specialists in Scouts and world experts in Scout Movement from the University of Baghdad such as Dr. Ali Yusuf or Prof. Dr. Mustafa Abdel Kareem official of Scout camp, and also Prof. Dr. Abdulbassit Salman advisor of Scout Movement of World Scouts – Arab Region and editor of Website at Baghdad University participated in the camp by delivering lectures about the Scout Movement, in addition to the participation of assistant professor Dr. Professor Nada Nabhan ,college of Physical Education and Assistant Professor Dr. Wassan Jasim from the college of physical Education in Jadriya .A delegation from the Ministry of Youth and Sport has visited the Scout camp to view and detect physical and scout specifications of participants and they expressed their admiration and thanks to the management of the Iraqi Scout camp.
Prof. Ali Yusuf have explained a lot of things to the participants through his scientific lecture, illustrating the history of the scouts in Iraq, and also showed the German experience in the scout movement through his last participation last summer in the Scout camp in Cologne in Germany, stressing the international trends towards Scout Movement and its importance in building the human community, in accordance with proper standards and according to the contexts and humanitarian approach that serve and check gain for society, through what the Scouts or global-trotter do within the frameworks of the joint work and coordination with government community institutions or non-government organizations, which would verify abundance of right traditions in building the right human.
A delegation from the college of Physical Education had visited the camps of the international Scout including the United States, and brought with them all supplies, equipments and tools and infrastructure for the camps, which form the latest in the world and within the finest world specifications established by Commander Scout Robert Baden-Powell, founder of World Scout Movement. Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Kadhim, Director of sport activity explained for our website that the university has taken a number of measures and decisions that help student, researcher and professor at the university in order to enjoy a distinctive academic atmosphere that gives a stimulation for the academic work and creativity, among other things focused on the university, great interest Scout and sports activityWhat you shall find in Scout camp but a beginning of a large activity coming to establish an international camp involving all international and Arab universities, and with five participants from all over the world, because our university becomes one of the prestigious World universities especially when it gains its distinctive scientific status among the other international universities according to the evaluation of “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” and the “Q S”.
Prof. Dr. Abdulbassit Salman ,the media advisor of the international Scout Movement, explained that Iraq is a pioneer of the Arab Scout Movement and the founding of the Arab Organization for Scouts, he beats a lot of countries in the field of scouts in terms of discipline and commitment to Scout tradition and regulations universally adopted, and that our country enjoys scout leaders and global-trotters who are superior and of Scout committed promise and law. He explained through films he had directed about Arab Scout Movement in Tunisia, Oman, Yemen, Malaysia, UAE, Sudan that Iraqi participations were not according to what fits Iraq, by virtue of little or no participations in Arab or international forums and by virtue of what Iraq suffered from an economic blockade, and that the Scout Arab arena welcomes Iraqi scout through the Arab Scout Organization that wishes to support the Iraqi Scout. He had sent more letters in the development of the Arab Scout Movement through the support of Arab associations of Scout in all Arab countries including Iraq. The website accompanied Scout camp which was held on the land of the college of Physical Education in Al-Jadrriya, documented with photographs and videos of many events of the camp which set a first precedent in the Middle East of the Scout camps of universities, the fact that the Scout camp is permanent in the college of Physical Education, by virtue that the college teaches Scout according to the academic curriculum and then teaches students practically according to the practical side not only theoretically, which represents a unique case in the University of Baghdad that contains such a camp.
