The college of medicine at the University of Baghdad has recently celebrated the graduation of the 89th session of its students in a majestic ceremony under the auspices and presence of His Excellency the minister of higher education and scientific research Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdul Sahib, the minister of health and environment Dr. Hassan al-Tamimi and rector of the University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid al-Saadi. The ceremony also witnessed a distinguished presence of various Iraqi academic and medical figures, including the Director General of the medical city, the captain of Iraq Medical Association, head of the Iraqi board for medical specialties, a number of deans and heads of scientific branches.

The participants delivered many speeches expressing the feelings of pride and happiness with the graduation of this new generation of young students in our beloved country who would be the makers of a new prosperous future and join the Iraqi medical family for serving their people and nation. Then some students read some Quranic verses dedicated for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq and the martyr of humanity and the late member of the Iraqi medical family Dr. Khudhair Zugair al-Badri, head of the esoteric branch who died due of Covid-19.

At the conclusion of the ceremony the students took the oath with the dean of the college Prof. Dr. Ali Kamel al-Shaljim swearing to fulfill their duties towards the sick, receiving graduation certificates presented by the director of registration department Dr. Samara Muwaffaq. However, gifts were distributed to top students and faculty members who received the title of professorship also honoring the family of the late Dr. Khudhair al-Badri by the dean and directors of some Iraqi academic and medical institutions. On the sidelines of the event, the minister of higher education held a meeting with the rector of the University of Baghdad, dean of the college of medicine & his assistants, heads of medical branches and members of the council to discuss the progress of the educational process at the college and the most prominent challenges and obstacles that stand in the way of the development of work and enhancement of scientific research.
