Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim al-Samarrai, assistant rector for scientific affairs at the University of Baghdad has signed recently an agreement for media and technical cooperation with his counterpart at the University of Technology Prof. Dr. Haidar Abdul Dahed in the presence of the rector Prof. Dr. Ahmed al-Ghaban. This agreement includes also matters related to mutual assistance in training, professional and development fields with the aim to develop and support the mechanisms of media and technical work between the two parties and exchange of experiences in line with the instructions of Prof. Munir Hamid al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad and the university council towards opening up to various universities and academic institutions at home and abroad.
Dr. Abdul Karim al-Samarrai stated that the college of media is one of the active and important faculties that strive not to spare any effort to provide media advice to the state departments in general and academic entities in particular. Dr. Ahmed al-Ghaban, rector of the University of Technology asserted that the college of media is a leading and prestigious faculty with a major role in journalism, publishing and marketing information, so there is an urgent need to use its professional and research expertise to train the university’s technological staff in various disciplines as a starting line for the development of extensive work. Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher, dean of the college of media stated that the college has developed a well-thought-out plan to open up to other educational institutions by launching various programs to train staff and it is currently considering signing several memorandums of understanding and cooperation protocols with various local and international universities and academic institutions, most notably with the Iraqi Media Network, the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, the college of media at Cairo University and the University of Mostaghanem in Algeria.
