The parasitism branch in collaboration with the continuing education unit at the college of veterinary medicine conducted an online lecture on the “Molecular Diagnosis of Covid-19” with the participation of a number of professors from various Iraqi colleges and universities.
The lecture included an introduction of this epidemic which is one of the most dangerous epidemics spread alarmingly and rapidly all over the world causing serious infections to the respiratory tract, specifically (type II cells) forming pulmonary vesicles. The genetic material of the virus tends to multiply the replication within the ribosomes of infected cells to produce the protein compositions of the virus in addition to the multiplication of huge numbers of virus within the pulmonary cells causing symptoms, the most important of which is shortness of breath, high temperatures and cough that may lead to death for the infected person. On the other hand, the lecture recommended the provision of laboratories of health safety conditions (level 3) taking into account collecting virus samples in a safe way.
