His Excellency, the Minister of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazim Abdul Sahib has attended recently the university council session where he stressed a set of directives of the ministry in addressing the challenges facing our country as well as the preparations for the integrated teaching decided for the next academic year. The deans discussed matters related to supplying laboratories and virtual platforms in addition to opening up channels of mutual cooperation between universities to exchange knowledge and participate in scientific output.
During his speech, Dr. Nabil Kazim expressed his thanks and high appreciation for the efforts made by teaching faculty to raise the level of higher education in Iraq and not to extend the period of application for postgraduate studies. For his part, Prof. Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, rector of the University of Baghdad stated that the university is looking for increasing the percentage of research published in international repositories, praised the ministry ‘s interest in universities’ independence in making decisions and providing integration spaces that support the strategic dimension of Iraqi academic institutions. At the conclusion of this session, the council members reviewed their perceptions and observations on the future perspective as well as requirements for improving performance in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation.
