Rector of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Munir Hameed Al-Saadi has participated recently in the memorial ceremony organized by the department of biotechnology at the college of science to mark the departure of the distinguished Prof. Dr. Alice Grigor, one of the former heads of department.
The ceremony was attended by the Bishop Avak Asadorian, Secretary General of the Council of Heads of Christian Communities and President of the Armenian Orthodox Community in Iraq, Associate Rector for scientific affairs Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Samarrai, dean of the college of science, Prof. Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Qazaz, head of the department of biological techniques, Prof. Dr. Nazim Hassan Haidar, colleagues and students.
The ceremony included prayers on the spirit of the deceased and a speech delivered by the university rector who expressed his sincere condolences and sadness at the loss of such a virtuous instructor who had an unforgettable imprint among her students and colleagues. Dr. Alice Grigor headed the department of biotechnology for nearly thirteen years, supervised many MA & PhD theses, participated in a lot of conferences, seminars and workshops inside and outside Iraq, contributed in the graduation of hundreds of students and was a symbol of altruism.
