The coordinator and president of the UNESCO Chair on Genocide Prevention Studies at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Salah Fleifel Ayed Al-Jabri announced that the college of arts has been awarded the UNESCO chair in the Muslim world with the aim to create a society that excludes all manifestations of genocide. The aim of this quest is to establish a tolerant, pluralistic and democratic culture and ideology for peaceful local and global coexistence as well as to promote the principles of religious and cultural dialogue through science, humanities, law and politics.
Dr. Al-Jabri added that our university is seeking to establish a foundation conference in which UN representatives and other international personalities are invited to inaugurate the headquarters of the UNESCO chair at the college of arts to develop a four-year plan that includes a series of events, conferences and seminars with the participation of researchers specialized in this field. Also he stressed the cooperation with the universities at the Kurdistan Region to address studies and research on anti-genocide and terrorism for the sake of establishing a safe, stable and prosperous society.
