The head of the department of earth science at the college of science at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Manal Shaker Ali received the membership of the European Federation of Geologists for her honorable scientific biography and specialization that qualified her to be nominated in this federation.
This selection came at the annual conference of geology held at Vienna, Austria which witnessed a wide participation of 18,000 geologists from different countries of the world this year and is considered as the first of its kind in such an important global gathering.
It is noteworthy that this annual conference in Austria examines issues related to earthquakes, volcanoes, the aftermath of the devastating effects, the ensuing tidal waves, the responsible use of natural resources and is attended by researchers representing more than 90 countries to find out the latest geological science mechanisms in the fields of early warning systems, ways to protect our environment, the sustainable use of water resources and minerals, as well as measures to reduce CO2 emissions recommended by global experts in all fields of earth sciences to face the challenges of the climate change in the world.
