His Excellency Mr. Mohammed al-Halbousi, president and speaker of the Iraqi House of Deputies visited recently the University of Baghdad where he was received by the University Rector Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool. During his speech, Al-Halbousi praised the achievements of this great academic edifice which provided a number of local and Arab governmental and private institutions with scientific and professional competencies, stressing the importance of benefiting from its human and scientific potential in the future legislative institution in Iraq.
For his part, the Rector of the University of Baghdad welcomed his guest and gave a detailed explanation about the university’s scientific and professional role in various fields, stressing readiness to supplement the legislative authority in our country with various medical, engineering, financial, political and economic experts. The two parties discussed the importance of coordination between the university and the Council of Representatives in the conclusion of agreements as well as the establishment of conferences, symposia and joint workshops on different vital issues in order to refine some bills issued by the Iraqi parliament. It is noteworthy that the speaker of the House of Deputies and his entourage attended a workshop organized by the Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the college of science on the launch of the government program for 2019 in the presence of the former minister of housing Mr. Mohammed Sahib al-Darraji.
