The college of fine arts at the University of Baghdad witnessed the launch of the events of the 34th session of the international university film and television festival sponsored by the department of film and television arts with the presence of the Associate Rector for administrative affairs Prof. Dr. Harith Ibrahim Jafar and dean of the college Prof. Dr. Raad Abdul Jabar.

The festival included an exhibition of photographs with the participation of more than 40 countries and Arab and foreign 130 films that shed light on the Iraqi society and that varied from fiction to documentary and short films. The dean of the college, Prof. Dr. Raad Abdul Jabar stated in the opening speech that this festival represents an opportunity to highlight the image of cinema and television as an effective learning and cultural tool in society and as a starting point in labor market. It is noteworthy that this event is new reading of the youth cinema in Iraq where the students try to transfer factual stories through their aesthetic outputs.
