The college of physical education and sports sciences at University of Baghdad organized a scientific symposium entitled “The risks of illegal migration phenomenon and its humanitarian repercussions in the Middle East” with the aim to address the real causes of illegal migration and forced displacement, as well as establishing a regional cooperation between Iraq, Iran, Turkey and other countries for promoting a joint action and exchange of visions and experiences in this quest.

The participants discussed several themes, most notably the concept of illegal migration, its causes, political repercussions, social dimensions, the concept and rates of clandestine immigration and the protocol against the smuggling of migrants by land, sea and air in addition to the human rights of migrants. The symposium reached at several recommendations that emphasize the provision of diversified employment opportunities for all young people and motivate them to cling to their motherland in order not to abandon the strengths inherent in and how to invest the qualifications of young people through sports clubs, scientific associations and cultural institutions.
