Department of remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) held in collaboration with the continuing education unit at the college of science an extended symposium entitled “Microwaves and satellite technologies” aimed to provide students with up to date information regarding remote sensing through sharing knowledge with field experts involved in the activities of the development of microwave circuits, design of the antenna for receiving satellite signals and other applications used for communication purposes. The lecturers addressed several matters related to this subject including radio wavelengths, wireless communications, satellites, cellular access technologies, space, astronomy, sensing or spectral analysis, radio astronomy, imaging applications, environment, defense, security, car avoidance radar, traffic control, air traffic security cameras  in addition to navigation and positioning measurements.
