Center for Woman’s Studies at University of Baghdad participated in the third international conference sponsored by the Educational Unit for Peace Studies and Human Rights in cooperation with the Arab African Council for Integration and Development (AACID) under the slogan (The Iraqi child: reality and ambitions). During the proceedings of this conference, Dr. Athraa Ismail Zaidan, a professor from the center presented a research paper entitled (Family violence against children) in which she discussed the causes of domestic violence against children and the kinds of such violence and the importance of getting rid of this habit since it has become one of the problems that our Iraqi children are subjected widely to as a result of the suffering of their relatives or the economic issues reflected upon them. The researcher recommended the urgent need to legislate a law for protecting children as well as the establishment of specialized psychological and pedagogical centers for the sake of rehabilitation of abused children. Then Assistant Lecturer Sinan Salah Rasheed presented a research paper entitled (Rights of children in international conventions) in which he shed light on the legal aspects of children’s rights in international law.
