Department of clinical pharmacy, drugs and medicinal plants at the college of pharmacy held a scientific symposium entitled “Nutritional supplements: advantages and disadvantages” in the presence of the Rector of University of Baghdad Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein Abdul Rasool and dean of the college Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abbas Hussein. The symposium included three lectures where the first one dealt with global legislation and regulatory issues related to dietary supplements, while the second lecture addressed other topics such as herbal cheating in the process of treating obesity. The third lecture dealt with the use of dietary supplements in Iraq and the risk of using anonymous products unlicensed by competent authorities.
