Scientific cooperation between Alkhawarzmi Engineering and the Warsaw University of Technology
Within the Strategies of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and with great interest from the presidency of the University of Baghdad in the framework of consolidating and strengthening the relations of scientific, cultural, scientific and academic communication between the University of Baghdad and the international universities the assistant teacher Mr. Haidar Rahim Zughayyar / Department of manufacturing processes Engineering / college of Engineering – Alkhawarzmi have been sent with a delegation from the Iraqi colleges of Engineering headed by assistant professor Dr. Burhan Mahmoud Ali / University of Mosul and a membership of assistant professor Dr. Munqith Saleem Dawood / Al-Nahrain University to the Republic of Poland to visit the University of Warsaw of Technology from 23-27/1/2012 to discuss the prospects for scientific cooperation between the University of Warsaw of Technology and the Iraqi universities to exchange experience .A number of colleges of the University of Warsaw of Technology has been visited and the modern scientific laboratories and in the colleges of Engineering have been reviewed. During the visit the delegation met Assistant of the president of the University of Scientific Research Affairs and some officials of the managers in the university and the parties agree on the desire of mutual cooperation and strengthen the bonds of scientific communication in various areas of scientific and cultural fields. Then a lecture about the University of Warsaw of Technology was presented including the historical depth of the university, geographical location, the university buildings, colleges, scientific institutes and scientific departments and various engineering disciplines in undergraduate and postgraduate studies. The work program of the delegation during the visit was reviewed and areas of possible joint work and the Prospects of future cooperation with Polish universities were discussed. After that a number of scientific colleges most importantly the college of Science, college of Materials Engineering , college of Production Engineering were visited. During the visit, lectures of the colleges and scientific specialization and post-graduate master’s and doctoral, research projects has been delivered. The most important scientific laboratories: laboratory of metal testing, laboratory of testing quality surfaces using electronic microscopes, laboratory of welding by traditional and modern methods, laboratory of metal cutting, laboratory of Mechanics for research of undergraduate studies, were reviewed. The college of Power Engineering and Aviation then was visited and a scientific lecture on the vibration of airplane wings was attended, a laboratory experiment on the fly using the wind tunnel was watched. After that the delegation met the manager of the Center of the International Cooperation to view the results of the ideas and views during the programme of the delegation. The scientific visits included:Centre of Technology Transfer and the development of self-employment, which founded recently to coordinate between the departments, colleges of the university and the industrial sector and the owners of Heads of money for financing and implementing the developmental projects. This center represents the interface interaction between the university and the community. Then the delegation visited the Institute of measurements (Almitruloggio) and Biomedical Engineering at the college of Mechatronics and the laboratory of postgraduate medical engineering.
At the end of the meeting, the visiting delegation made a speech of appreciation praising the scientific cooperation between the two sides and take advantage of expertise in the building and constructing of the new Iraq . Then Mr. Assistant of the president of the university of Scientific Research Affairs and manager of the Center of International Cooperation thanked and appreciate the visiting delegation and the interest of Warsaw University of technology for the scientific cooperation between the two countries and wished them good luck and they called to another similar visit wishing our dear university and its formations and scientific places further progress and prosperity .
