Message body the Loyalty Day – to be Loyal to Science and Independence

    The University of Baghdad participated with the students the celebrations of the Loyalty day expressing its delight and pleasant with the independence and sovereignty of Iraq, where Dr. Musa Jawad al-Moussawi, President of the University delivered speech in which he expressed the happiness for the participation of university occasions and the community of the Loyalty day and the Iraqis triumph of political independence and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, he also expressed his happiness with the participation of students, which will be the fulfillment of knowledge, independence and progress of our beloved homeland. The President of the University also urged students for scientific research and study in order to obtain the highest scientific levels.

Dr. Bahaa To’ma Jiyad attended the ceremony with a great group of university students carrying Iraqi flags and emblems of national patriotism ,they also submitted songs and poems in love of the country and its soil and unity. Ali Abdul Zahra a student from the college of Media delivered a poem in which he expressed the national unity of the Iraqi people.Another student from the college of Media , Mustafa Flaih also delivered a speech that reinforced the happiness of the students of the leaving of the occupying forces from the homeland, and then the students initiated to submit a showing performance in the courtyard of the University of Baghdad, they raised the Iraqi flag as they are tall shoulder to shoulder ,tightly structured to rise the Iraqi flag in the skies of Baghdad University, they also explained in their continuous chanting the rejection of sectarianism and cohesion of the society of Iraq and its territory, refusing any project that tries to undermine Iraq or the division of its territory.

Satellite television channels and the audio-visual media have focused on this important occasion, and covered and aired on satellite television channels and the mass media. Preparing the University of Baghdad Guest House for Receiving Scientists and Intellectuals

    As a result of the urgent need of the University Baghdad to host researchers, thinkers and scientists, to complete the tests and joint research, particularly with the increasing international scientific conferences held by the University with high rates of Foreign Affairs in scientific activities, such as symposia, scientific lectures, the University of Baghdad thought to prepare a guest house within the University to host scientific delegations and dignitaries coming from outside Iraq, where the university is working for two months and under the supervision and direct follow-up from Prof. Dr. Bahaa To’ma Jiyad administrative Assistant of the President of the University of Baghdad, accompanied by Dr. Riad Khalil, Dean of the College of Physical Education.

The website team followed all the efforts and ongoing work in the guest house and met Dr. Baha in the work field, who has been following more details and check in more at the execution site, where we met him in the late hours of night in the guest house sharing with the staff and workers in the household, in order to accomplish as soon as possible.He welcomed the website team and explained more things about the guest house and what can be achieved.

After the reception, Dr. Bahaa took us in a field tour of the house, and reviewed the mechanisms of developed action, with an explanation about the quality of performed work, and the readiness of halls, rooms and services that have been planned to host scientific figures, indicating that the university is spending large sums of money to rent hotels or apartments for the foreign guests in the establishment of scientific conferences or activities and scientific demonstrations ,let alone transport fares, food, and to rehabilitate of this house, we are providing a lot of things for the benefit of our university, and we as a giant University ,work like what international universities are doing, most large universities have guest houses of experts, scientists, thinkers, and our university have been exposed to difficult conditions due to the political situation, resume its activity to be integrated, like other universities. We have provided the best ways and services in the guest house, to be suited and endured the university of good reputation, the best and the latest furniture and tools used in the rooms of residence, and provided the latest designs and materials and labour for implementation, as we prepare the best raw materials for the application of flooring or ceramic and glassware.

As well as we have provided the strongest equipment for establishments of health, furnishings and bedrooms and cooking equipments, and many other details to secure what the guest needs in our university. Within a few days we will open the house for the reception of guests, who increased recently with the university witness, from major developments in the field of joint scientific research, which requires the active participation of many of the universities in our University.

We are now doing a study to provide suites at the level of ministers or senior officials of the States, where we are work to provide suites of seven stars to fit the characters at the level of minister or higher, and this does not mean that the suites of scientists or researchers are inferior or at lower level than those of Minister, on the contrary it is not less than the level of suites of Ministers, but it does not include supplements, the characters at the level of the Minister usually have companions, advisors, and bodyguards, and of course these characters need special services or galleries in particular, such as meeting halls or shared corridors or expanded galleries, and so on, so we are preparing for the processing of all these typical services to be adapted and fit in with such characters, as well as we seek to expand the guest house in the future that we are on the verge of scientific activities that are too broad and with a large international

    The University of Baghdad holds range of advanced modern offers with the cultural and intellectual continuity, and one of the most important exhibitions is the exhibition of contemporary Japanese architecture, from 1996 until 2006, which was held at the college of Engineering, Department of Architecture. The exhibition was held in cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture and the Japan Foundation, The exhibition occurs after a delegation of the embassy of Japan visited college of Engineering, and briefed on the architecture students’ projects in the halls of the Department of Architecture, as well as the delegation briefed on the scientific curriculum for students of architecture , training and cultural programs and the academic activities of the students. College of Engineering has held a ceremony for this occasion under the auspices of Professor Dr. Ali Al-Adeeb, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, attended by Prof. Dr. Musa al-Musawi President of the University of Baghdad and the Japanese Ambassador in Iraq Mr. Susuma Hao Segawa, and Prof. Dr. Qasim Doss and former Minister of Culture Mr. Mufid Al-Jazaa’ri, Mr. Mun’em Al-Faqeer adviser of the Ministry of Culture, Prof. Dr. Saba Abdul Jabbar head of architecture department also attended the occasion , Dr. Amer Al-Haddad Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, and a number of Head of Departments and instructors in the college and graduate and postgraduate students. Many scientific institutions and universities also were keen to attend the exhibition, where many of the students and professors of Al-Nahrain University and the University of Technology and technical institutes also attended the exhibition as well as the diplomatic staff at the Embassy of Japan.

Mr. President of Baghdad University and Mr. Dean of the college of Engineering welcomed the attendees and the Ambassador of Japan to set up this exhibition, and gave thanks to all those interested in this exhibition, then t the Japanese ambassador delivered a speech in which he showed his admiration of Iraqi architecture and art, stressing his admiration at the University of Baghdad and its educational role. the ambassador also expressed his deep happiness of the cultural cooperation with the University of Baghdad and the college of Engineering, and thanked the College of Engineering to provide the appropriate environment for the exhibition. Representative of the Ministry of Culture also delivered a speech on behalf of the ministry in which he expressed happiness of the Iraqi Ministry of Culture for this cooperation, which is considered the first, and stressed that the ministry will work to develop the cultural cooperation largely, and with a wider opening to the Japanese culture, Professor Dr. Saba Abdul-Jabbar Na’m head of architecture department also gave a speech that welcomed all attendees, confirming the role of the Department of Architecture in the development of the reality of human life through the output of the Advanced Architectural, confirming that the Department is keen to communicate the intellectual and creative continuity, and we are honored to host a cultural event with art and architecture. Art and architecture have deep effect on the life of peoples and nations, and that such an event carries such sublime meanings, embodied in the advanced exhibition of the contemporary Japanese architecture that means a lot for us and the Iraqi architects. All efforts have been praised which have sought diligently to achieve this exhibition, which is a scientific demonstration for the students of architecture.

The President of the University of Baghdad gave the architecture shield to the Ambassador of Japan during the ceremony, and in return the Ambassador gave Mr. Dean of the college of Engineering, a recent book about Japanese architecture, Dean of the college of Engineering also gave Dr. Musa al-Musawi an architecture shield, for his sincere and noble efforts to develop the University and upgrading the higher education.

The exhibition included 100 paintings offered architecture of Japan, and also offered films about the development of Japanese architecture, and this is considered the first exhibition hosted by the Embassy of Japan in the light of cooperation between the college of Engineering and the Japanese Embassy. The college had previously established a total number of meetings between Mr. Dean, College of Engineering , the faculty of the Department of Architecture and the Japanese delegation, during which preparations for the exhibition , a selection of galleries and schedule of the exhibition were done .The university and the College of Engineering has provided all the support for the establishment of this architectural and cultural demonstration in order to provide an opportunity for the students and professors of architecture to have an idea about the international architectural experiments Prof. Dr. Saba Abdul-Jabbar accompanied the President , Dean of the college of Engineering and the Japanese Ambassador at the opening of the exhibition, expressing her appreciation and admiration of the advanced Japanese architecture, stressing the college continuity of keeping pace with urban revolutions, indicating that the department is working on exhibitions of students’ projects, which are of advanced contemporary Modern visions, she also reported that the department is preparing to set up the establishment of a scientific demonstration during the celebrations of the anniversary of the university and Ninetieth anniversary of the foundation of the College of Engineering, the website team documented the event and the exhibition with a series of photographs.
