ABSTRACT

In this invention a preparation of overbased detergents cleaners derived from Palmitic and Stearic from the interaction of these two acids with effective magnesium oxide and carbon dioxide by 60 ° c in the presence of ammonia as a helper and ethanol (1: 9) as a solvent. Total base number TBN was measured for these two cleaners and the value of the liquidators TBN to composite overbased magnesium palmitate was equivalent to (346 mg KOH/g oil) while for the composite magnesium stearate are overbased (420 mg KOH/g oil). It also evaluated the prepared detergent by mixing all the cleaners in between (1-5% wt/wt) with base oil (60 stock) provider of refineries company centre, Baghdad, Iraq and the overbased number and viscosity were selected at 40 Celsius and 100 degree Celsius according to viscosity index VI. Oils mixed with prepared (2% wt/wt) in concentration showed high stability towards oxidation in comparison with a standard antioxidant used in the company of central refineries for commercial oil production.
