ABSTRACT
This invention is directed to a method for water treatment by using new type of draw solutions in forward osmosis process, and describe a method for synthesizing iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) through a co-precipitation method  and coat those nanoparticles with dextrine. A 63 nm particle size is obtained and used in a lab-scale forward osmosis unit as draw solution with concentration of 0.5 g/L which gave water flux of 3.326 L.m-2. hr-1. A comparison is made between the performance of these nanoparticles and other types of draw solutions and the results show superiority of nanoparticles over other types specially on economical level since the recovery of MNPs is more power saving process than the recovery of other types of draw solutions.
