Abstract

Research subject involves synthesis of new derivative of heterocyclic organic compounds contain quinazolinone ring and long chain fatty acid in its structure acts as surfactant that prepared by reaction of anthranilic acid and palmitoyl chloride and study the synthesized compound as corrosion inhibitor. 2-pentadecyl-4H-benzo[3,1]oxazin-4-one [1] used as starting material in order to synthesized the new organic compound by reaction with nucleophilic compound containing nitrogen. The new compound that synthesized identified by various spectral methods; such as FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and C.H.N.S.

one of the most important goal of this study was  include investigated of synthesized organic compounds as corrosion inhibitor by weight loss measurement and potentiostatic tests for low carbon steel in presence of 2M HCl at different concentration and temperature (298-328)K. the topography of C.S was examined by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and showed smoother surface of inhibited metal samples than uninhibited samples due to the formation of a film on inhibited metal samples. The adsorption of synthesized inhibitor obeyed Langmuir isotherm. From tafel extra polation numerous values result such as [Ecorr, Icorr, tafel slope IE%] and the thermodynamic values [ΔG, ΔH, ΔS], and the kinetic values [A, Ea, ΔS*, ΔH*]. The result showed good inhibition efficiency of the synthesized inhibitor against the corrode media 2M HCl.
