Abstract

In this work, a construction of microwave-induced plasma jet (MIPJ) system was used to produce a plasma jet at atmospheric pressure, at standard frequency of 2.45 GHz and microwave power of 800 W. The working gas argon (Ar) was supplied to flow through the torch with adjustable flow rate using flow meter regulator. The influence of the MIPJ parameters such as applied voltage and argon gas flow rate on macroscopic microwave plasma parameters was studied. The macroscopic parameters results show increasing of microwave plasma jet length, 12 cm as maximum value, with the increase of applied voltage and argon gas flow rate. The increase of argon gas flow rate increased the argon gas temperature to reached 350 ℃ as maximum value. The study the effect of gas flow rate on the optical properties of the microwave induced plasma.

The influence of microwaves plasma (MIPJ) on male fertility by using the following tests (measurement of testosterone level, sperm viability, activity, motility and abnormalities), Sperm DNA fragmentation and on histopathological changes of testis was studied in mice. Thirty-two adult male mice were divided into four groups one control group and three treated groups with microwaves plasma at times (20, 50, and 90 sec). The results showed significant increase (P<0.05) in sperms motility and viability , while decrease in the percentage of abnormalities and DNA fragmentation of sperms in mice treated with (MIPJ) compared with control group, and the results showed significant increase in diameters of seminiferous tubules and decrease of  interstitial spaces in treated groups with (MIPJ) compared with control group.
