Abstract

Aim of the research includes work to improve and modify local paints Specification (Modern Paints) by adding nanomaterials to the  local paints. Titanium  dioxide (TiO2 ) nanomaterials are prepared which  has more than one phase. Two  phases Anatase and Rutile of TiO2 was prepared which are  used in industrial paint  applications. Composite  titanium dioxide    considered one of the most important raw material in the manufacture of dyes, especially the white ones because of the white color and brightness, which is owned in addition to the high refractive index and Photocatalyst Properties, especially UV irradiation  that associated with  surfaces that cleans itself by self  and that of the most important characteristics of being hydrophilic materials. In this work Anatase and Rutile phases was synthesis   by sol-gel method and mixture of  different concentration of the above  phases of  titanium dioxide  with the use of polyethylene glaycol (PEG) as a dispersant were mixed by  magnetic  blender  then added gradually to the local  paints on the market. This addition are made using an electrical  blender. The results of this work have been  investigated and examined using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron microscopy scanner (SEM) to examine and determine the size and shape of nanoparticles added to local dyes. The optical absorbance of TiO2 nanoparticles was measured by  UV-Visible Spectrophotometer in order to estimate such as  the  energy gap and the X-ray diffraction (XRD) device to determine and identify the  phase of the  nanoparticles that are mixed and which are in two phases as well as the use of Zeta-potential  device to determine the surface charge and then stability  of nanoparticles(for two phases of titanium doxide nanoparticles), and finally the study of the effective influence of the particles of titanium nanoparticles on local dyes by improving the Iraqi standard of local paints  through the most Local paints through the most important tests related dyes Washability and  examine the contrast.
