College of political science holds a symposium entitled woman, peace and security <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

  College of political sciences, university of Baghdad held a symposium entitled “women, peace and security”, where a number of researchers and professors submitted their sober and scientific papers. The meeting was opened by Dr. Mona Jalal Awad, the instructor at the college to discuss the theme of women’s empowerment in accordance with the resolution of the security council resolution issued in 2000, after the recognition of the United Nations via the security council concerning the effect of these conflicts on women as well as the need for including a paragraph about women in since their active role in the prevention and resolution of these conflicts. Dr. Mona Jalal addressed several themes emphasized by that resolution for the purpose of its implementation while taking into consideration the specificity of women and their involvement in maintaining security, peace-building, especially in conflict-affected areas, as well as the awareness of peacekeepers, police and judiciary in the privacy as well as the special needs of women. Dr. Hamsa kahtan Khalaf asserted that the resolution stress on the role of women in the areas of military observers, civilian and humanitarian police and human rights monitors as well as the representation of women in communities that witnessed armed conflicts so that to make their voices heard in the process of conflict settlement and decision-making to achieve sustainable peace. Despite the emphasis on the implementation of this resolution by the signatory states, of (192) member states in the United Nations, only (21) states had implemented this resolution.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
