Discussion of a new study at the university of Baghdad on the treatment of symptomatic inferior turbinate hypertrophy with laser <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

  A discussion of a thesis of diploma in laser medicine was carried on at the laser institute for graduate studies, university of Baghdad submitted by the researcher (Emad Malek Abdul Rida) entitled “Diode laser turbinate reduction in the treatment of symptomatic inferior turbinate hypertrophy”. This is considered as a new study for treatment of patients who do not respond to drug therapy since the researcher made clear that chronic inflation affect people during their sleep. The study showed that chronic stuffy nose adversely affects the path of normal breathing, making the patient breathing by mouth which is in turn affects of eating and drinking causing pain in the head with sleep disorder. The researcher pointed out that one of the main reasons for the chronic stuffy nose disease is due to inflation as a result of the extreme sensitivity of the mucous membranes and autonomic nerve. The study revealed that the ideal way to reduce these symptoms is to reduce them in a way that is not accompanied by pain or side effects and preserving of physical functions such as heating the Inhaled air. The researcher used diode lasers (980 nm) to treat inferior turbinate hypertrophy where the practical side of the research was carried on in Jadiriyah civil hospital from June 2014 to August 2014 through including a group of fourteen patients who suffer from inferior turbinate hypertrophy after being diagnosed by routine examination using flexible and solid binoculars and the sprayer. The study indicated that patients with severe deviation of the septum have been excluded. The researcher used a diode laser (980 nm) in a direct and continuous contact (7 watts) under general anesthesia and found that the use of diode laser was effective and acceptable for patients who do not respond to drug therapy. The discussion committee was consisted of Dr. Yaseen Adeeb Sakran, specialized in nose and throat laser from Yarmouk educational hospital and Dr. Lotfi Ghulam Awazli, specialized in general and laser surgery from the laser institute for postgraduate studies at the university of Baghdad.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
