A Study in civil engineering at the University of Baghdad addresses the effect of salt on the construction of concrete <\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

  The college of Engineering at the University of Baghdad has witnessed the discussion of the thesis entitled “the impact of an attack of the internal sulfate salts on the high resistance of concrete properties by the student, “Hussein Ali Jabir” in the Department of Civil Engineering. <\/p>\n

  The importance of this thesis is to address one of the most important problems facing the concrete industry in Iraq and its deterioration , due to internal sulfate attack and it works in reducing the resistance of compression and causing an expansion of the concrete, thus may cause damage to the concrete emergence.<\/p>\n

  The researcher has worked in the current study, according to the published details via website of the College , to study the effect of each of the total sulfur salts, and salts of total sulfur effective on high resistance concrete , and study the effect of sulphate content in cement, sand and gravel as well as compared to the total content of sulfate with the total content of the active sulfate.<\/p>\n

  The materials used in the search has been divided into two sets of cement content, and three sets of sand, and two sets of gravel. <\/p>\n

  The results has shown that the total content of active sulfur salts can be counted , , better than the total content of sulphates, due to its dependence on the size of the of the material used, as the material of smaller size grain can be of materials more effectively of the sulphates, because cement is the softest material, and therefore the sulfate effect will be high , while in the sand, the effect of sulfate is less than it was in the cement and gravel, and this will be of less influence of sand depending on the granular size, and therefore, it is recommended to follow the Iraqi specifications for the total content of effective sulfur salt because it gives more flexibility for the use of sand and gravel with a high content of sulfates.<\/p>\n

  The results has shown as well as the total effective content that entirely meet the total sulfate , which reduces the resistance, and decrease of similar mixtures to resist bending, density and speed of ultrasound, and the collaborative tests that were made in this study are the compressive resistance and bending resistance , while the collaborative tests included the speed of ultrasound, density and saturated absorption in ages, along with the largest decrease of compressive resistance and bending resistance and the speed of ultrasound in (90) days was (42%) (32%) and (12%) of the blends ordinary portland cement, which contain the highest concentrations of sulfate content for each of cement, sand and gravel .<\/p>\n
