{"id":57618,"date":"2026-09-06T08:05:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-06T05:05:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=57618"},"modified":"2026-09-06T08:05:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-06T05:05:13","slug":"university-of-baghdad-president-leads-strategic-push-to-modernize-academic-programs-and-anticipate-future-specializations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=57618","title":{"rendered":"University of Baghdad President Leads Strategic Push to Modernize Academic Programs and Anticipate Future Specializations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Iraqi universities may need to rethink how they measure academic quality \u2014 not by how well a program performs today, but by how ready it is for tomorrow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That was the core message from University of Baghdad President Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul-Hassan Al-Zughaibi, who delivered a lecture titled &#8220;The Future Transformation Index for Academic Programs&#8221; to members of the University Council, assistant deans for scientific affairs, and department directors from the university presidency, held at the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Al-Zughaibi outlined a vision for modernizing academic programs that shifts away from traditional curriculum review toward a forward-looking approach \u2014 one that measures a program&#8217;s ability to adapt to future demands using indicators that account for advances in knowledge and technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, future skills, and the fast-changing needs of the job market and society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said universities are no longer tasked simply with preparing graduates for today&#8217;s jobs, but with building academic programs that can anticipate the professions, specializations, and skills society will need in the years ahead. A program&#8217;s quality, he added, should be judged not just by its current standing, but by its ability to stay effective, flexible, and adaptable in a rapidly evolving academic and professional environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The proposed index, Al-Zughaibi explained, would serve as a diagnostic tool to assess how ready existing programs are for the future, identifying strengths and gaps that need addressing.
