The College of Education for Women organized the “Green Day” event under the slogan “Together for a Greener Tomorrow,” held in the college’s gardens. The event witnessed active participation from students across various departments, supervised by faculty members, and coordinated by the Green Day Activities Committee. The activities included planting trees and plants around the college premises, alongside an exhibition of eco-friendly handmade and household crafts prepared by the students. These crafts featured knitting, sewing, painting, decoration, food preparation, and various other creations.<\/p>\n
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ali Masir Yaseen, President of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, and Dr. Ithmar Al-Shatari, Dean of the College, with notable attendees including Dr. Ammar Taher, Dean of the College of Media at the University of Baghdad, Dr. Hussein Sabhan, Dean of the College of Education at Al-Farahidi University, and Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, Dean of the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, as well as academic department heads and college staff.<\/p>\n
Dr. Ali Masir emphasized that plants symbolize beauty and ecological balance, highlighting the importance of educating students about their value to foster a sense of connection to nature, which reinforces sustainability and environmental preservation. Dean Dr. Al-Shatari noted that Green Day activities significantly contribute to environmental care, and oxygen production, and serve as a primary source of food and medicine. They play a crucial role in climate regulation, air quality improvement, and educating students about sustainable agriculture and plant conservation, thereby strengthening their environmental responsibility within the campus.<\/p>\n
