The seminar was delivered by Prof.Dr. Kareem Hussein Alwan, Dean of the Center for Urban and Regional Planning Studies, under the supervision of Assist.Prof.Dr. Ali Mohammed Thjil Al-Mamouri, the Dean of the Institute, and was attended by a large number of the institute\u2019s professors and students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of environmental consciousness and how to preserve the environment as a national duty. It also addressed the indicators of sustainable development, monitoring natural resource conditions, and promoting their usage in alignment with sustainable development goals. The symposium covered environmental standards such as noise levels, sewage treatment, the emission of harmful gases, and visual pollution.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prof.Dr. Alwan also discussed the concept of a sustainable city, which is categorized based on its geographic location, administrative and economic function, along with transportation networks, commercial markets, and recreational or cultural centers. These factors make the city more attractive to residents from rural areas, and they necessitate a return to sustainability principles to preserve urban areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This symposium contributes to achieving two Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 11 and Goal 15, which call for sustainable cities and communities and life on
