The Biological Research Unit for Tropical Regions, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled “The Most Important Benefits and Harms of Algae” and the presence of a number of graduate students, lecturers and those concerned with the specialization of algae.<\/p>\n
The workshop aimed to review an introduction to algae, their living, types, applications, benefits, and harms as a group of non-flowering plants Thalusia that are not flowers, while Thalusian plants are plants whose body consists of Thalos, i.e. their composition is not characterized by real roots, stems and leaves, and thus includes algae and fungi, and what distinguishes algae in containing chlorophyll green dye to be self-feeding.<\/p>\n
The workshop included highlighting algae and its uses in industries, especially medical ones, which rely heavily on algae, because of their benefit in this field in the synthesis of toothpaste, as well as in skin cleansers, and their presence in deodorants, industries, and the production of medical drugs, indicating the problems raised by algae due to their presence in surface water streams as well as in treated water tanks intended for drinking and domestic use, as well as these plankton can be found in exposed surface water wells, and what algae causes in water sources cause many damages, especially those used to obtain drinking water or to generate electricity.<\/p>\n
